Today is the first anniversary of the site and for this event, I am pleased to announce the first interview with the young photographer Jackie Luo, which will be followed by many others interview for sure!

PhotoDonuts -Hi Jackie! So, where are you from? Where do you live?

Jackie Luo -I’m from Houston, Texas, and I live here now.

-How old are you?
I’m sixteen-years-old, and I’ve been shooting since I was fifteen.

-Are you working as a professional photographer or amateur?
I work as an amateur photographer. As of now, I’m not especially interested in going into photographer professionally.

-What cameras do you use?
I use a Canon EOS 450D for the most part now, although I also use a Canon Rebel K2 for film. Previously, I used a Minolta STsi for my film photography.

-What environment do you like for your shootings?
I love unusual parts of nature, places that make me marvel at the beauty in the world. I have yet to find such a place in Houston, but so far I’ve mostly shot in fields, near water, that sort of thing. I also love settings that evoke femininity – girl’s bedrooms strewn with clothes and jewelry, tea parties, etc.

-A photographer or artist inspires you for your work?
Nirrimi Hakanson, undoubtedly. She is so young and so talented, and her photography directly influenced me to begin my own.

-Do you see yourself in the field of photography in the future?
No, probably not. Photography will always be close to me, and I intend to keep it as a part of my life, but I don’t want to pursue it as a career.

-What song would you choose for a slideshow of your work?
Maybe « Life Slash Dreams » by Dan Black, « Little Bit » by Lykke Li, or « Let Your Love Grow Tall » by Passion Pit.

Thank you very much for the time you granted me Jackie!
