PhotoDonuts -Hey Cameron, tell more us about you.
Cameron Davis- Well I’m Cameron Davis and I’m 23. I’ve been working as a professional photographer since I was 18. I didn’t start photography like most people did, meaning I didn’t have someone give me a camera and than got inspired. Honestly it came out of pure boredom, I was sitting around one day thinking what could I do to pass the time, went to the store, bought a camera and the rest is history.

-Have you completed training or have you learned by yourself?
Every thing I learned, I learned self-taught, trial and error, mistakes and success. Its definitely a brutal process but I couldn’t have imagined doing it any other way. Its like someone giving you a car and you working to buy your own you just have a deeper sense of appreciation because you know how hard that shit was to get where you are now.

-What does photography mean to you?
Photography to me is about capturing the perfect moment, and I don’t perfect, I mean the essence of perfection. For example there is this great photography by Andy Warhol who is capturing an actress I can’t remember her name but in the photo she is overexposed technically but you look at the photograph all the combinations were in a perfect order. Where he was standing, where she was sitting, where the light fixture was, the location…all of these things combined in a way to create just one moment of perfection and that’s what It means to me.

-Where does your inspiration come from and what environment do you like for your shootings?
My inspiration comes from everywhere and everyone, I can see something, here something, be talking to friend and get inspired to create. Music is definitely the main ingredient though. One of the things I do when I’m taking and editing photos is I play music and as I’m listening to music a certain songs comes and I build the photos around that song and mood the songs is conveying. I know it doesn’t make sense but in my head it does. I like to shoot everywhere also inside outside it really doesn’t matter as of late a lot of my work has been indoors but I’m definitely going to be switching it up to outside locations again here soon

-Is there something special you want to do in your work soon?
As far anything special in my work at this point not really. I’ve done just about everything. The only thing I want to do at this point is start shooting more fashion-oriented shoots, specifically for Elle Magazine, the don’t believe in that Terry Richardson flash shit all the time which is a nice break from most magazines these days.

Thank you Cameron!
